Climate Challenge
Introduction to the Climate Challenge project
Many of our youth members have seen the climate change television commercials and are generally
concerned about their future. They have noticed, however, that many adults do not seem to share
their concerns. As a long standing community group we always enjoy becoming involved in our local
community through our expertise of acting and public speaking. We would like to combine the above
as follows:

Make a DVD film starring youth members of the group. In the film we would first of all try to
expose, through interviews, just how little our local adults know of climate change. We would
then go on to "paint it black" explaining what we are doing to our environment through the
burning of fossil fuels. We will show that it isn't just industry to blame. Every person is
responsible through their demand for gas and electricity and through their journeys in cars,
trains and aeroplanes. We will then explain some of the ways in which individuals in our area
can help reduce the release of the harmful gases. Next we will explain the personal financial
savings local people can make through cutting back on their energy usage. Finally we will make
heart felt pleas from all of our young people to the adults of the area to "save the planet for
us and our children".

We will distribute free copies of the DVD to all households in our area along with fact sheets
on the problems and solutions surrounding climate change.

We would also like to create and host our own website. On the website we will provide a free
trailer of our DVD and offer free of charge the full DVD to anyone interested wherever they are
in the world. We would have to charge postage and packaging.
