Dry Rot

Bolsover Drama Group‘s next production will be the comedy ‘Dry Rot’ this May.

The play features the exploits of a crazy, but likeable gang of bookies; Honest Alf (Derrick Hulett), his daft sidekick Fred (Chris Peck) and Flash Harry (Ken Radmore), who plan to make a killing at the races by switching a French wonder horse with an old nag. In order to not arouse suspicion the gang have hired a secretary, John Danby (James Sheppard) to oversee the arrangements at the hotel.

The action takes place in the lounge hall of the Bull and Cow, a country hotel run by a retired Indian Army colonel

(Istvan Koszegi), his wife (Janet Koszegi), their daughter Susan (Keyleigh Hulett) and the maid, Beth Barton (Michelle Simpson), a country girl from the west of England.

The bookies scheme doesn‘t quite go to plan and all manner of chaos ensues. Secret rooms, sliding panels, mistaken identity, a French jockey who cannot speak English (Nicky Constable), Sergeant Fire – a policewoman with a voice of thunder (Kim Sas) and a little romance are all under starters orders in this classic comedy.

The play is directed by Diane Hulett and produced by Kim Sas, and takes place at The Assembly Rooms between Thursday 13th and Saturday 15th May.
